Abstract :
The quick paging channel has been proposed as a method to significantly improve the standby times of the phones for the 3G systems. This paper looks at a way to put this common channel in soft handoff, thereby improving the reliability, and leading to a better standby time for the cdma2000 phones. Both the physical layer, and network implications are analyzed in detail.
