Abstract :
Single-phase induction motors are widely used in home appliances and industrial control. The multispeed operation and multipurpose operation are provided by controlling the speed of these motors. This paper presents variable-frequency motor drive system implemented by PWM voltage source inverter, to improve a single-phase induction machine (SIM) efficiency. In this system, an on-line adaptive loss minimization controller (ALMC) for a SIM drive is introduced. The ALMC provides a novel pattern of change in stator voltage magnitude to achieve a minimum motor input power at any operating condition. The operating of the ALMC results in a smooth and fast loss minimization. In this paper, theoretical control method is presented and simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
