Abstract :
The triboelectric series of atomic groups was constructed by measuring frictional electrification between Langmuir-Blodgett films and a metal ball, by taking the polarity and quantity of electrification charge into consideration. The Langmuir-Blodgett films were deposited using molecules which consist of various polar atomic groups combined with linear hydrocarbon chains of same length. The local dipole moments of these molecules are evaluated by measuring the displacement currents generated by compressing monolayers on the water surface. The local dipole moment changed in the same order as in the triboelectric series of atomic groups. As a result, we concluded that the charge density on atomic groups has an effect to the frictional electrification.
