Abstract
We describe a class of models used to evaluate and forecast the reliability of complex hardware/software systems. We assume the system may be described through a reliability block diagram. Blocks referring to hardware components are dealt with ´pending´ continuous time Markov chain models, whereas blocks referring to software components are dealt with ´pending´ software reliability growth models. Inference and forecasting tasks with such models are described.
