Abstract :
In this paper, we have proposed an open-sided periodic cusped magnetic (PCM) focusing through theoretically analyzed the transport characteristic of the elliptical sheet beam. It is shown that the elliptical sheet beam with transverse size 5 mm×0.4 mm can move through the beam tunnel in the axial distance 180 mm under the open-sided PCM focusing without the “Diocotron” instability.
