Abstract
The authors consider the use of biorthogonal wavelets for baseband waveform coding in traditional BPSK and and PSK digital communication systems. Biorthogonal wavelets can be designed to give better spectral characteristics than orthogonal wavelets. Numerical results for power bandwidth and bandwidth efficiency are given as evidence. A new configuration for the receiver is also presented, where the traditional matched filter is replaced by a filter based on biorthogonal waveforms. The proposed codec is shown to conserve bandwidth at the expense of bit error rate
