Abstract
Regulation of whole-area thickness and flatness in hot strip rolling mills is a very challenging area of modern industrial control. The process is subject to a number of disturbances and uncertainties, due to both the rolling equipment and the highly variable behaviour of the product being rolled. This paper reviews the state of the art in Automatic Gauge Control (AGC).
