Abstract
The debate over design for testability (DFT) has raged for many, many years. I believe that´s because there have been separate camps within companies that don´t consider the overall impact of their design decisions on the ultimate future of their jobs. When an organization operates in the fully concurrent engineering mode, the customer becomes the real boss, and everyone´s common goal must be in delighting that customer. There are always trade-offs between conflicting requirements, of course. Creating a product in the face of these many conflicting trade-offs is what real engineering is all about
