Abstract :
An aerodynamic study of a Rigid Tension Cone (RTC) inflatable-like configuration with and without a base was conducted. The study was focus on mainly the effects of base on aerodynamics of the RTC. The test conditions varied from Mach 1.65 to Mach 4.5 free stream speed, at the angle of attack of zero degree to 20°. Two areas of interested were investigated, namely aerodynamic coefficients and pressure mapping. The converge history showed that it was easier to converge for a RTC with a base than RTC only, for the RTS is a component of pressure drag. The aerodynamics for both the RTC with and without a base is very close to the data of wind tunnel test.
