Abstract :
A tele-operated micro-handling/machining system, which covers the micrometer to millimeter range, has been implemented and the hardware and the software construction is described. Using this system, human beings can virtually enter the micro-meter world and perform precise operations in a natural way. In particular, a multi-axis force information-to-auditory information transformation technique has been proposed and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods by applying two different conversion techniques, the appropriate technique depending on the compliance of the object which is being operated on
