Abstract :
This paper presents the vector control of AC motor in driving a Ball target. AC motors have relatively small volume, but cannot have the ball controlled as accurately as DC motors, which are more ponderous, through a traditional control method such as PID. In order to acquire both perfect control accuracy and small volume, we plan to take the strategy of controlling the AC motor with vector control, which can make AC motor perform as well as DC motor on speed regulation, through series of transformations, such as two-dimensional coordinate transformation and rotation transformation. This paper presents a mathematical model of the ball target driven by vector-control AC motor. Then the model is built and simulated in MATLAB/Simulink. Simulation results indicate that vector control is effective in controlling the AC motor to drive the ball target.
