Abstract
Twenty years ago, to edit journal manuscripts was a slow, time-consuming process. The articles had to be retyped following each change and, if the authors and editors lived in different towns or countries, they had to be mailed between the author, production editor, and language editor. Today, the editing is done rapidly and quickly-sometimes in only minutes-by people living thousands of miles apart. Using word processing technology and e-mail has allowed the editing of manuscripts from many countries quickly and easily, even though the editors live on different continents and write in different languages
