Abstract
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) shall be applied in context of the power system to efficiently manage (renewable) generation, storage and consumption of electrical energy. Discussed under the term Smart Grids, this trend also impacts the ICT-architectures of enterprises concerned with the power system. Especially utilities are expected to adapt their enterprise ICT-architectures regarding various technology fields from grid automation to customer services in order to ensure the systems reliability and realize new business capabilities. This contribution outlines a domain specific planning approach to derive business requirements from technology roadmaps as external reference models for the long-term planning of enterprise ICT-architectures supporting Smart Grid functionalities.
