Abstract
Designs of a stacked GSO(Ce) spectrometer are described. The spectrometer is developed as a stopping detector for a measurement of intermediate energy protons. The major problem to use stopping detectors is the tail of low pulse height events caused by nuclear reactions and scattering out. The designs are made to reduce the scattering out events by means of a Monte Carlo simulation. Proton loss probabilities due to nuclear reactions are compared in terms of the peak-to-total ratio between GSO(Ce) and other scintillators
