Abstract
Achieving high throughput under various channel conditions is a major and difficult goal in HF communications. Among the possible techniques to reach this goal is the use of spatial and polarisation diversity. This paper reports on real-time field experiments which have been conducted in order to evaluate the gain of diversity in conjunction with reception of a high bit-rate (9600 b/s) HF multi-tone waveform. Results are presented that show how diversity improves the performance (BER). The behaviour of the reception system according to the time of the day is also shown
