Bast fibre plants are attracting increasing attention in world, and the plant rice straw fractions have already been used as a raw material in many new applications. This study focused on using a wetting model describing the dynamic contact angle process, a parameter (K) was used to quantify the adhesive spreading and penetrating during the wetting process. By applying the wetting model, wetting the rice straw surface with distilled water, using alkali pretreatment and effects of different time points (0s, 10s, 20s, 50s, 100s, 150s, 250s, 400s, 600s and 900s) on the treatment of rice straw were investigated. The experiments were conducted using contact angle changing method over time through Linear Regression Analysis. The results show that the contact angle decreases until it reaches equilibrium (force balance, heat balance, equilibrium and chemical equilibrium) over time, the straw unit surface area of water absorption the more the greater the surface free energy; At the same time, NaOH treatment was an effective method for improving the wettabilty of wheat straw surfaces. The optimum conditions of processing technology were obtained through orthogonal test: concentration of NaOH is 0.4%~0.8%, solvent ratio 1: 2.5%~1 : 4.5 and reaction time 12 h%~48 h.
