Abstract
We have addressed the question of the necessity of charge migration and trapping to explain remanent polarization in ferroelectric polymers. We conducted switching experiments in the initial time interval of the inherent poling process. Special care was taken to fulfill the experimental needs for fast switching, making sure that the required circuit time constants and currents can be delivered by the experimental setup. The reported randomizing or flip-back of the polarization could only be partially observed for biaxially stretched 12.5 μm thick PVDF. We were able to demonstrate that a new model of space-charge-limited currents generalized by the orientation of ferroelectric dipoles describes all observed phenomena
