Here we improve the theoretical framework for the optimal collaboration among researchers in a research team. A knowledge network model is established to find out the coefficient donating the efficiency of the collaboration with each pair of researchers. Furthermore, the variational inequality theory is employed to work out for the optimal solution for the time allocation problem. Finally a numeric example based on the data from Shanghai Institution for Science of Science confirms the feasibility of the methodology of modeling. This research will help the application of Knowledge Collaboration Network Model in the knowledge management of research teams.
