Abstract
In this paper a photovoltaic (PV) 3-phase inverter system is simulated jointly with its control in PSIM software. The conventional PV systems of today can be costly and this likely prevents wide-scale interest in fully implementing solar PV solutions. The simulation of the system is developed for testing control algorithm before a real-time implementation. The inverter allows full control of reactive power. The utilization of PV systems is rather low in northern European countries and could be increased by implementation of additional functionality such as uninterruptible power supply, local power quality improvement or ancillary services. The floating solar power units, called Liquid Solar Arrays (LSA), use concentrated photovoltaic technology where a lenses direct the light onto solar cells and move throughout the day to follow the sun.
