Abstract
The authors compare the results of HVC testing of fine magnet wire with those obtained with mercury bath testing. The results of a systematic study of HVC test conditions (test voltage and pulley groove angle) are discussed, along with some limited round robin test data. HVC test behavior is presented using response surface concepts, and these data are used to suggest possible improvements to HVC testing method for fine wire. Possible response differences between the older single-pulley HVC tester design and the new pulley design are addressed
