Foreword

During my tenure as Director of ITU´s Telecommunication Standardization Bureau one of my priorities has been the formalization of academic and research institutes´ contribution to the work of ITU, and in particular the Telecommunication Standardization Sector. I am pleased to say that the seeds sown over the past several years have taken root, and ITU´s relationship with academia and the research community is set to flourish in the years to come.
