Abstract :
In modern world, as the field of communication continues to evolve, Zigbee has become one of the most important standards for wireless Intensive Care Unit networking. Functioning with Wireless-enabled Intensive Care Unit network devices such as sensors and medical appliances is an constituting functionality in Intensive Care Unit gateway system. This paper describes the plan and execution of an operative architecture for medical device integration of Zigbee Intensive Care Unit networks into OSGi-based Intensive Care Unit gateways, where ad hoc Zigbee devices are represented by device proxy services. Further, such proxy services can be automatically transferred, installed, and registered in the OSGi service registry by the device integration manager as the corresponding devices join the Zigbee network. Thus, Intensive Care Unit network applications can identify proxy services for the required Zigbee devices, and access the devices through the common proxy service interfaces without concern for the specific access protocols and libraries of the device.
