Abstract
Partitioned broadcasting scheme is an efficient scheme for popular videos in video-on-demand system. In a partitioned broadcasting scheme, a video is divided into several segments and each segment is sent over one channel in cycles. In this paper, we propose another partitioned broadcasting scheme for broadcasting popular videos, called Extended Exponential Broadcasting (EEB) scheme. We then analyze the resource requirements for EEB scheme, i.e., the number of server broadcast channels, the client storage space, and the client I/O bandwidth. Also, we found out a relationship between the client´s arrival time and its resource requirement. The results show that EEB scheme is compatible with conventional transmission at the user end, and it´s easier to implement
