Abstract :
Expressions that describe the variations in the capacitance and tan delta in delaminated stator winding insulation due to electrostatic forces have been obtained. Experimental results obtained on a stator whose insulation was seen to have delaminated dielectric support the suggested theory. Measurements performed at a relatively low voltage could be used to determine the extent of delamination and possibly the extent of aging of the insulation
