Abstract :
We propose and validate experimentally a simple model that allows us to calculate the nonlinear index, n2, of any fiber type. Single-mode and higher-order-mode dispersion-compensating fibers (DCF) are investigated and n2 dependence on chromatic dispersion is analyzed.
