Abstract
This paper deals with the design of a simulation testbed for assessing the performance of the radio access segment in adaptive TDMA cellular systems. The testbed considers the combined effects of a range of techniques key to the traffic performance. The paper introduces the main features of the testbed in the framework of a novel architecture for the radio access. Such an architecture is based on functional modeling ideas similar to those applied for fixed network functions supporting third generation mobile systems
