Abstract :
Measurement of the skin biophysical parameters for skin analysis gives the current state of the skin. From the physical parameters skin health can be assessed or skin analysis can be used in developing medicines for appropriate skin care in case of abnormalities in skin. Non invasive skin biophysical parameter has been used for evaluation of Hydration and Tran epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) in normal and psoriasis affected skin by using the Dermalab® series Skin Lab Combo equipment. This study was undertaken in order to find the variation of hydration and Transepidermal water loss through skin in normal and psoriasis affected skin as per the anatomical location of body regions. The measurements are taken at forehead, volar forearm mid region, Dorsal Hand and Neck in an individual. The study found that baseline TEWL and Hydration depends on anatomical regions. Also variation in these parameters are found to great extent in psoriasis affected skin as compared to normal skin. Findings shows that Baseline TEWL in involved psoriatic skin is around 2.5 times than that of Normal skin.
