Abstract :
Municipal wastewater-treatment plants (WWTP) have traditionally suffered from a low level of process automation. However sensors and models of the biochemical reactions form the basis for more sophisticated control algorithms. Here the possibilities of model-based multivariable control of WWTP are considered, using model predictive control (MPC) concepts and H∞ control theory
