Abstract :
A wideband channel probing capability is introduced with emphasis on measurement and analysis results through various outdoor environments, frequencies, and antenna heights, with and without motion. The primary result of the processed measurement data is a power delay profile of the propagation channel as a function of time. From this profile, other channel parameters are computed, including path loss and delay spread. Existing channel models focus primarily on narrowband propagation and antenna heights above 10 meters. Unlike the existing models, this effort focused on wide bandwidths and low antenna heights for characterizing urban and suburban propagation channels. The test frequencies (40.7, 386.95, 1814.0 MHz) ranged from low VHF to L-band.
