Abstract
A coplanar waveguide (CPW) frequency agile dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is discussed. The proposed DRA is capable of changing frequency at four different frequency bands between 2.47 GHz and 5.89 GHz. The dielectric resonator is a rectangular ring with a permittivity of 10. Three switches are allocated as the connecting lines of a network that feeds the dielectric element. Three narrow band modes with impedance bandwidths of 14%, 11% and 20% are obtained by switching “OFF” one of two connecting feed line networks, whereas wideband mode with the impedance bandwidth of 82%, is created by switching “ON” three switches. The proposed DR has the size of 60 × 58 mm2 with a dielectric resonator (DR) thickness of 4 mm. The proposed antenna is fabricated and tested. A good agreement is achieved between the simulated and measured results.
