Abstract
Locating mobile transmitting sources in multipath environments becomes a complex and challenging task in the absence of Line-of-Sight (LOS). In this paper we present a novel localization scheme based on the Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Radar concepts. The proposed scheme aims to locate the ground moving transmitting sources in the environments where LOS is not available. The scheme locates the signal reflecting nodes present in such environments by jointly estimating the Angle of Departure (AOD) and Angle of Arrival (AOA) of the multipath signals. This information is then used to accurately determine the mobile source location by following geometrical approach. The localization of mobile transmitter in the proposed scheme is carried out without any additional intermediate reference sources. This gives the scheme advantage and supremacy over existing schemes in terms of simplicity, cost and performance.
