Abstract
The UWB is a promising short-range communication and localization technology due to its low power transmissions. In this paper, we investigate the UWB through-the-wall propagation with signal frequency range from 1 GHz to 2 GHz based on two path-loss models, i.e., the 802.15.4a model and the frequency-dependent model. The UWB frequency selective properties for typical wall materials are analyzed. To predict the UWB through-the-wall propagation performance, we further propose an improved Time Domain Ray tracing (TD-Ray) method, which is demonstrated to be superior by experiments.
