Abstract
The problem of reducing order in time-domain block matrix filters (BMF) by employing sparseness to reduce processing time and its effect on filter performance is considered. We introduce the order reduction constraint assignment (ORCA) algorithm and its associated performance degradation measure. The algorithm is applied to statistically optimum BMF and simulation results submitted. It is shown that the proposed methods are useful in designing BMF with improved throughput.
