Abstract
In this paper two different paging strategies are presented and the mobility management signalling required is compared. A LEO and an intermediate circular orbit constellation, respectively with 48 and 10 satellites, are considered in the study. Analytically, the location update signalling is also derived. Simulation models have been developed and implemented, and results obtained, for the two constellations and the different paging strategies. The concept of guaranteed coverage area (GCA) is introduced and GCAs for several latitudes for both constellations presented
