  • Abstract
Adaptive filtering algorithms are presented that are based on the Euclidean direction search (EDS) method of optimization. The EDS based algorithms have a fast convergence rate and O(N) computational complexity. These algorithms are investigated for decision feedback equalization in a mobile communication channel with additive noise and multipath. The EDS algorithms are shown to perform very well in attenuating noise and intersymbol interference. Performance in terms of bit error rate (BER) and convergence rate are comparable to those of the RLS algorithm, but at a lower computational cost.
