Abstract :
Dr. Carl E. Baum was a leader in many areas of electromagnetics research and the very foundation of others. Although he began studying lightning almost by accident, he soon became a leader in the field. This paper describes some of his contributions to the understanding of the theory, measurements and theory of the lighting return stroke and its interaction with systems.
