Abstract :
Multistage receivers have been proposed to alleviate capacity and near-far problems in CDMA systems. An analysis of the effect of the interference from unsynchronized users to the bit error rate of synchronized users is presented. The receiver is not near-far resistant to the unsynchronized interference, and thus these users can dominate system performance. The improvement in acquisition time using multistage acquisition is also presented for the case of single dwell time acquisition
