Abstract
A vibration blocking filter (VBF) design is proposed for the purpose of canceling poorly damped oscillatory mode of the system to be controlled. It improves precise positioning, eliminates unwanted system vibrations and does not require prohibitively high input and state values. The control structures with VBF have been analyzed and compared to other methods of dealing with undamped system oscillations. The design produces a FIR filter that has minimum “one norm” and requires negligible design and on-line computational effort
