Abstract
The propagation of a Gaussian-modulated linearly-chirped pulse through a single-resonance Lorentz dielectric material is discussed in terms of it asymptotic approximation. The dependence of the saddle point locations of the complex phase function on the material parameters, the input pulse parameters and propagation distance are studied empirically. The decay rate of the peak amplitude of the pulse is explained in terms its asymptotic expansion.
