Abstract :
Two methods for low-cost and low-complexity beam forming network are proposed. First. a new, compact and broadband phase shifter with continuously controlled phase bits is designed by using coupled lines. Second, its equivalent phase delay line is used as a reference phase on the element antenna. which results in the low cost system by saving a number of active device. For an element antenna, a wide-slot array antenna with a reflector is utilized with broad bandwidth and low F/B. Therefore this phased array antenna has achieved a compact size, broadband, and wide steering angle, although it has low complexity and low fabrication cost.
