Abstract :
A time-domain (TD) analysis for the transmitted ultrawideband (UWB) field is presented, for a microcellular propagation environment, based on an established frequency-domain (FD) transmission model in technical literature. Dielectric wedges are considered as the obstacles between the source and the receiver. A comparison between the TD transmitted field and the diffracted field obtained through time-domain uniform theory of diffraction physical optics (TD-UTD-PO) analysis is presented to justify the significance of the transmitted field component in UWB communications.
