Abstract
This paper describes some of the lessons learned from a computer network system that was designed and installed in a calibration laboratory. This network consists of ten Hewlett Packard (HP) 9000 Series 200 and 300 technical computers used to perform Computer Aided Test and Calibration. The two Local Area Networks (LANs) in the system are an HP Shared Resources Manager (SRM) and an IEEE-802.3 (Ethernet) both of which are administered in an HP Unix (HP-UX) environment.
