Abstract :
A Fabry-Perót cavity (FPC) antenna is presented for beam switching. The antenna consists of a partially reflective sheet (PRS) formed by a finite-sized periodic array of metal patches printed onto a grounded dielectric substrate and a feeding microstrip patch embedded in the substrate. The proposed antenna achieves beam switching within an angle of ±15° with consistent gain as the antenna is excited at varying positions in the cavity. The study shows that the fully dielectric-integrated FPC antennas are capable of providing the high gain and beam switching with low profile, and mechanical robustness.
