Simple ray launching planning tool for DECT

DECT can be used as a wireless office system, a neighbourhood telephony (NHT) system, a radio in the local loop (RLL) system, etc. Especially with NHT applications in mind, KPN Research has developed a simple ray launching tool that can be used for planning DECT networks. The primary aim was to develop a tool that can be used in practice by our operator. In simple terms this meant that the tool had to be fast and easy to use. Most ray tracing tools are relatively slow, which limits their practical use. In this article we describe the ray launching tool that we named NAOMI, and give examples of the NAOMI predictions compared with some measurements
