Abstract :
Multiples prediction and adaptive subtraction are two important aspects for surface-related multiples suppression method based on wave-equation. In this paper, only the prediction part is discussed. GPU (graphic processing unit) with parallel computation advantage is exploited to accelerate surface-related multiples prediction, which improved calculation efficiency greatly. So the prediction of surface-related multiples using 2D algorithms is applied widely in data processing. However, prediction methods based on 2D input data are often not capable of predicting the surface-related multiples correctly. Therefore, wave equation-based multiples prediction need to be applied in a full 3D sense. In this paper, 2D SRME (Surface-related multiples elimination) algorithm is applied on theoretical SMAART model and 3D SRME is applied on forward modeling data set. The test results demonstrate that the approach can predict multiples efficiently.
