Abstract :
Recently, air-hole periodic structures have been suggested to suppress leaky waves in NRD (nonradiative dielectric) waveguides. However the characteristics of air-hole periodic structures in NRD waveguides have not been considered in detail. In this paper, the propagation characteristics of air-hole periodic structures in NRD waveguides are analyzed in detail using the FDTD method. The results show that leakage in NRD guide waves decrease with thickness and number of air-holes and increase with an increase in the spacing of air-holes.
