Abstract :
Microwave processing has revolutionised the synthesis of all kinds of materials including insulators, semiconductors metals and alloys. The technique can either be employed in a mixed mode, separated E-or H-mode or in a combination with other preparation techniques. In no time and at much lower temperatures and power levels, it can even result in new crystalline, nanocrystalline and amorphous phases and even new compounds. Microwave processing is an emerging, economic and green technique having great potential, and has opened new vistas of materials research.
