  • Abstract
The author gives an overview of the work of the High Performance Fortran Forum (HPFF). This group of industry, academic, and user representatives has been meeting to define a set of extensions for Fortran dedicated to the special problems posed by very high performance computers, especially the new generation of parallel computers. The author describes the HPFF effort and its goals and gives a brief description of the functionality of high performance Fortran.<>
