Abstract :
The linear birefringence-induced polarization mode dispersion (PMD) always present in mechanically induced long-period fiber gratings (MLPFG) can be compensated by a simple compensation method proposed in this work. These results would be useful in designing the MLPFG devices with zero PMD in optical communication and sensing systems.
