Abstract :
In view of the increasing interest in wireless local loop systems for telecommunications services, various proprietary or standard systems are being suggested to telecommunications operators. One standard, promoted by a number of manufacturers, is the Digital European Cordless Telecommunications or DECT. In that respect, this paper presents performance results from a simulated DECT-WLL system operating in a typical rural environment where the emphasis has been on the coverage and capacity achieved when employing multiple-beam adaptive antennas at base station sites and diversity at subscribers premises. Additionally, results in terms of achievable grade of service for a mixture of voice and data users are presented and discussed
